William Kraftician passed away on Friday, June 8th 2018 at Care One @ Hanover in Whippany. He was 81.
William was born and raised in Swoyersville, PA. He lived in Bensalem, PA before moving to Whippany 15 years ago.
He graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA with his BA in Education and Music.
William was a school teacher for the Neshaminy School District in Langhorne, PA for many years before retiring.
He was a founding member of St. Stephen the Protomartyr Orthodox Cathedral in Philadelphia, PA and a dedicated member of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Christian Church in Randolph. Music was a major part of Bill’s life. He was officially recognized as a composer of Orthodox Liturgical music; served as choir director at St. Stephen Orthodox Cathedral for more than 30 years; a member of the NJ/NY Diocese Commission on Liturgical Music and a long time member of the Spirit of Orthodoxy Choir. He was also a lifelong member of the Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America (FOCA).
William was also a talented Ikonographer. His works may be seen at Spruce Island, St. Michael’s Orthodox Cathedral in Sitka and many other churches in Alaska. Bill was a lifelong and valued member of the FOCA, (Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America), serving in various capacities.
William is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sonia (nee-Strilec).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 10:00a.m. on Wednesday, June 13th 2018 at Holy Trinity Orthodox Christian Church. 120 Dover-Chester Road, Randolph, NJ 07869. Interment: Saint Tikhon’s Monastery Cemetery in South Canaan, Pennsylvania. Visiting hours are on Tuesday, June 12th 2018 from 7:00p.m. – 9:00p.m. at Holy Trinity Orthodox Christian Church.
