Obituaries » Alexander 'Alex' Johnston (Willis)
It pains me to have to write that Alex stepped from the path of his life at the notorious young age of 27. In February 2018 he passed while living in one of his favorite places in New Orleans, Louisiana (NoLa) not far from Bourbon Street. He will be missed immensely by his surviving younger brother David, his sister Morgan, his mother and father, and an extremely long list of extended family and close friends.
If you knew Alex, you knew he never would have been content with a mundane life “working for the man at a 9 to 5”, as he was not afraid to tell you. Never let it be said he didn’t live his life on his terms, talking his philosophy, listening to his music, inking his skin, and laughing at what he thought was funny, despite you or I. Regardless, underneath it all, I don’t think I’ve ever known such a giving person or kinder heart.
Hopefully, people who know his story or who are of the same mindset can learn something to help them change their lives and not share the same fate as Alex. It would definitely bring some comfort to his family if they were to hear something good coming from such an end. There are good people willing to help out there if you can’t do it alone, you just have to take the first step and want to change from the inside first.
I could write about Alex forever, but nothing I can say would do his life justice or express what a pleasure it was having Alex as a part of my life as he grew to be a man. I will cherish it all, the good, the bad, the laughter, and the tears, though today the world is a little darker, the music a little sadder, my soul a bit smaller with him gone. We love you always Alex.
Relatives and friends are invite to attend his Memorial Gathering on Saturday, March 31st 2018 from 12-2p.m. at Par-Troy Funeral Home. 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany, NJ 07054. (973)887-3235 or visit www.partroyfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, please do something nice for someone who looks like they may need a hand. Or, if Alex were writing this himself, “In lieu of flowers, don’t be d!@#$ to each other”…
