Deacon Edward Joseph Lally, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at St. Luke’s Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg.
He was born in Manhattan, grew up in Woodside, Queens, and lived in Parsippany for 35 years before moving to Belvidere 17 years ago.
Edward proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves until being honorably discharged in 1965.
He graduated from the College of the City of New York with a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering in 1956 and received his PE in 1961. Edward then went on to work for the Army Corps of Engineers in Manhattan and at Picatinny Arsenal for 38 years before retiring in 1994 as the North Atlantic Division Chief of Engineering. He was also a former Adjunct Professor at NJIT.
Edward became a Deacon on May 6, 1995.
He was predeceased by his brothers: Bernard ‘Tom’ and John.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Caryl J. (nee-Mielczarski); his sons: Edward and his wife Valerie, and Richard and his wife Jane; his sisters: Dorothy Cassidy and Mildred Lally: and his five cherished grandchildren: Mary, E.J., Shauna, John, and Thomas.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Liturgy of Christian Burial to be offered on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Christopher RC Church, 1050 Littleton Rd., Parsippany. Cremation: Private. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. also at St. Christopher RC Church.
