Dateline: Lake Hiawatha
Phyllis E. (nee-Cancelliere) Atkins, Age 71, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover.
Phyllis was born in Newark and grew up in East Orange before moving to Lake Hiawatha in 1962.
She was a loving wife of 54 years, a dedicated and supportive mother and the most doting of grandmothers. In recent years her two grandsons brought her the greatest of life’s joy. She had a creative spirit and loved the outdoors, spending 17 summers camping at Green Valley in Newton, N.J. Her positive outlook and laughter will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Mary Cancelliere and her sister, Alba Carey.
Survivors include her husband, Donnie; her daughters: Ruth Ann Sharp of Weeki Wachee FL., and Mary Sue Koegler of Lake Hiawatha; her son, Donnie R. of Byram; her sisters: Donna Litwa and Elaine Scillia both of Lake Hiawatha; her brother, Eddie Cancelliere of Green Bush, N.Y., her 4 cherished grandchildren; and her 2 treasured great-grandchildren.
