Robert M. Mortensen passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown. He was 85 years old.
Robert was born in Willemstad, Curacao (dutch West Indies) before moving to the United States and settling in Parsippany.
He attended Carson Long Military Academy in New Bloomfield, PA and then went on to graduate from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Robert proudly served in the United States Navy.
He worked for Sea Land for many years before retiring in 1992 after that Robert worked as a Parsippany Crossing Guard for 20 years.
He enjoyed boating and bowling and belonged to the Saint Johns Masonic lodge.
Robert sang in the Choir for many years for the United Methodist Church in Parsippany.
He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret “Marge” A. (Stutzner) who passed away on 10/21/2006, his brother, Sigwardt and his sister, Edith Scotti.
Survivors include his son, Eric & his wife, Isabelle; his daughters: Susan Valcoff & her husband,Nick and Debra Mortensen; his brothers: Ronald and Dennis; his grandchildren: Natasha Valcoff and Tyler & Ryan Mortensen.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 10:30 am on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Parsippany United Methodist Church, 903 South Beverwyck Road, Parsippany. Cremation: Private. Visiting hours will be on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 12:00 – 4:00 pm at the Par-Troy Funeral Home. 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany. With a Masonic Service at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers please make donations in his memory to the American Cancer Society 7 Ridgedale Ave. Suite 103 Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927.
