James W. Loomis
September 15, 1960 – February 13, 2017
In loving memory of James W. Loomis who passed away on February 13, 2017 after a brave battle with cancer.
Jim resided in Parsippany, NJ and was 56 years old. He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Sharon Coppola, and loving family and friends including his father James, sisters Deb and Caryn, his in laws, George and Phyllis Coppola, and his nephew, Alex Pirl who resided with him.
Jim was born in Providence, RI, later relocating to NJ.
Woodworking was Jim’s passion, and he was a gifted master craftsman/cabinetmaker whose superior workmanship will stand the test of time. He was also an avid fisherman who loved getting out on his boat, and who appreciated all things outdoors. He looked forward to the crispness of the fall, and was ever mindful of the beauty of the changing seasons. He enjoyed his trips with his wife to Peddler’s Village, New Hope and Chester to browse the shops and take in the day. Jim also held a special place for the Christmas season which was his most cherished of holidays, and he took painstaking effort preparing for the occasion. The family tree beautifully decorated with distinctive ornaments he had gathered over the years.
Jim was a true renaissance man who knew a great deal about many things. He was always happy to share that knowledge, and we would jokingly ask if it was going to be a long story when there was some lesson ahead. And it usually was. Jim taught us a lot about a lot of things. He was deeply aware, abundantly happy, and amazingly present. The blessings of the day never escaped him. He was ever the optimist with a strong faith in God and humankind. He was known for his giving heart, his warmth, and his smile. Jim was always ready to lend a helping hand and share a kind word. He had a strength of character, with an ability to make you laugh even in the face of his greatest and final challenge. He touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Jim left an indelible mark in this life, and he will be missed.
Jim’s family appreciates all prayers extended during this very difficult time, while grateful his soul now gently rests in a place of eternal peace.
Jim was a strong supporter of the St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Market Street Mission, so any donations offered can be extended in his honor.
