Shikha (née Asthana) Iyengar, 67, of St. Augustine, FL, passed away on July 19th in New York City surrounded by her family after a two year struggle with cancer.

Shikha was born on Aug 15, 1949 in Hyderabad, India. She came to the United States at age 20 and received her MS and MPH degrees before she started working for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). She was passionate about helping others and she dedicated her life to enhancing the quality of health of seniors. After managing senior health care services for many years at UPMC, she took an early retirement in 2010 and moved to Jacksonville, FL. Then for the next four years she helped to start and build the AgeWell Institute at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL. She lived for nearly 40 years in Pittsburgh, PA, and was an active volunteer for the Sri Venkateswara Temple and for many organizations for helping seniors. She has a large extended family that she remained close with her entire life.

She is preceded by her brother, Gireesh Asthana, father, Shanti Prasad Asthana, adopted father, Omkar Prasad Asthana, and adopted mother, Shanti Devi Asthana.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Lakshmikanth (Laks); her sons: Nikhil and Nithin; her daughter-in-law, Peggy and her beloved grandchildren: Audrey and Maggie; her mother, Vimla Devi Asthana, her brother, Sharat Asthana; her sisters: Rita Prasad, Shachi Srivastava, Nalini Prasad, Manju Asthana, Neeru Kumar, Nisha Saxena and their spouses and children.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Services on Saturday, July 22nd 2017 from 12:30 – 2: 00 P.M. with her cremation to immediately follow at Rosedale Crematory. 408 Orange Road, Montclair, NJ 07042.
