Lawrence J. “Larry” Del Plato passed away on October 30, 2021 at his home. He was 86 years of age.

He was born on March 20, 1935 in Orange, NJ to Lawrence Joseph and Anna (Tarantino) Del Plato. He grew up in East Orange and was a graduate of Seton Hall University.

Lawrence married Carol McGuirk and served in the United States Army, stationed in Dallas, TX where they lived for two years before returning to Orange, NJ. They later settled in Whippany, where they lived for 46 years before moving to Washington Twp in 2015. Larry and Carol enjoyed traveling the world together, taking trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Ireland, Italy, the Caribbean Islands, and many cruises.

Lawrence worked as a Human Resource Manager for various pharmaceutical and technology companies before retiring, including Organon, Schering-Plough, Lucent Technologies, AMAX and BrightStar. He was a charter member and Past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Elizabeth Ann Seton Council #6904. He was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy in Whippany.

Lawrence is predeceased by his wife, Carol E. (nee-McGuirk) Del Plato.

Survivors include his son, Christopher Del Plato and his wife Nancy, his daughter, Pamela Ann Del Plato; his grandchildren, Ashley Syvertsen and husband David, Allison Gelsinger and husband Matthew, Haley Del Plato, Lauren Werth and husband Dean, and Maxwell Arnheiter; and great-grandchildren Henry & William Gelsinger and Brock Syvertsen.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Liturgy of Christian Burial on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 10:00am at the Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Chapel, 90 Whippany Road, Whippany, NJ. Interment: Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave., East Hanover, NJ. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Par-Troy Funeral Home, 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Larry’s memory be made to the Knights of Columbus Council #6904, P.O. Box 37, Cedar Knolls, NJ, 07927.
