Richard Allen Acker passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2021. He was 82. Born in Hazleton, PA, Richie grew up in East Orange. He graduated from East Orange High School where he was a dedicated member of the Panthers football team and was named first-team offensive guard All Essex County as a sophomore.

Richie was a spiritual man who loved and cared for his family. He adored his wife Bashie, children David and Andrea, daughter-in-law Heather and his grandchildren Alexa, Brady and Brianna. He was happiest when he was able to spend time with them whether it was for a special occasion or just to cook up a delicious home-cooked meal. He was Alexa, Brady and Brianna’s biggest sports fan and would never miss a game if he could help it. He also enjoyed ocean fishing at the Manasquan inlet or stream fishing for trout in New Jersey.

Richie worked as a Foreman for Sheet Metal Local 25 in Garfield for 36 years before retiring.

He is pre-deceased by his brother, Ronald & his sisters: Barbara Phelan, Regina Acker & Diane Ramos.

Survivors are his loving wife, Barbara A. (nee-Folek); his son, David R. & his wife, Heather; his daughter, Andrea Nikcevich; and his sister, Debra D. Viscomi & her husband, Randy; and his three grandchildren: Alexa, Bradon and Brianna.
