WILLIAM HENRY CAMPBELL

January 17, 1930 – March 27, 2021

William H. Campbell passed away on Saturday March 27, 2021 at Care One in Whippany, NJ. He was 91 years old. Bill was born and grew up in Upper Montclair, NJ., and has been a happy resident of Whippany, NJ since 1962.
He graduated from Montclair High School in 1948 and Bloomfield College in 1957 with a Bachelor Degree in Science.

Bill served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 9/12/1951 until being honorably discharged on 9/11/1955 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He started his business career with Dun & Bradstreet. He later became a Credit Manager with BASF and Huls America.

He was a former Vestryman for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Morris Plains, NJ, where he enjoyed many happy times and good friendships. He loved his family, home, and vacationing in Sunset Beach, NC. He also loved Martinis, Pepsi, Wheaties, and chocolate ice cream. An avid sports fan his favorite teams were the Yankees, Giants, and Rangers.

Bill enjoyed listening to music from the 40s, especially Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, and Duke Ellington. He liked to watch old movies and documentaries. He read two newspapers a day, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, and answering trivia questions. But he especially liked to have conversations with people and share past experiences and ideas.

Bill is predeceased by his parents: Iva (nee-Tallman) & William George Campbell and his sister– Joan C. Bickler.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years– Clemence R. (nee-Robinson); his beloved daughter–Catherine C. Campbell, his beloved son–Richard W. Campbell and his wife Alissa, his five beloved grandchildren–Rachel E., Grace M., Natalie C., Jacqueline R., and Jason R. Bill also is survived by many dear nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration-of-life gathering Thursday April 1, 2021 from 11:00 am – 11:45am at Restland Memorial Park Chapel, 77 De Forest Ave, East Hanover. Interment and graveside service to immediately follow.
