Robert D. Grant Jr. passed away on February 20, 2021 at Hackettstown Medical Center. He was 72.

He was born in Newark and grew up in Clifton. He lived in Lake Hiawatha for 30 years and Randolph for 7 years before moving to Flanders 8 years ago.

Robert graduated from Clifton High School in 1966. He then proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged in 1970.

He worked in the telecommunications industry for most of his life. Robert was a technician for Western Union Telephone Company and a supervisor for MCI. He then went on to work for Verizon Communications in West Orange. He began his career with Verizon as a technician and though Robert’s hard work and dedication, he rose the ranks retiring as one of their Chief Executive Officers.

Robert was a member and former Commander of the American Legion Post 249 in Lake Hiawatha and a member of the American Legion Post 278 in Stanhope.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Mildred J. ‘Midge’ (nee-Lewis), his son Robert D. III, his 2 daughters: Katherine J. Ricker & her husband, Randy and Kelly J. Rizzolo & her husband, Rob; and his cherished grandchildren: Thomas, Katelyn, Kyle, Brandon & Haley.
