Obituaries » Jeffrey Benjamin D'Amico

Jeffrey Benjamin D’Amico, 60, passed away at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover on February 13, 2021.

Beloved son of Mary and Joe D’Amico, Sr., both deceased, Jeff lived in Lake Parsippany with his family for many years and was a graduate of Parsippany High School.

He served as bat boy for the numerous baseball teams his father managed, and then as equipment manager for the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) men’s baseball team under head coach Gene Schmid.

Jeff bowled with the Arc/Morris Adaptive Recreation Program and won numerous medals in local and regional Special Olympics competitions, often qualifying for state tournaments. He eventually moved to a group home in Wharton and worked at Abilities of Northwest New Jersey, Inc.

Jeff was a master at Word Search Puzzles and an avid fan of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. He loved oldies music and movie musicals. He knew all the words to the song “Yankee Doodle Dandy” and could do an excellent imitation of James Cagney as George M. Cohan.

A devoted brother, Jeff always called his siblings at sunrise on their birthdays to be the first to sing “Happy Birthday.”

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Joe Varone of Point Pleasant, and his two big brothers, Joseph, Jr. of Longs, SC and Dean T. of Mt. Bethel, PA.

Arrangements are privately under the direction of the Par-Troy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Jeff’s memory to SCARC Guardianship Services, 11 US-206, Augusta, NJ 07822 or visit https://www.scarcguardianship.org/.
