Donald J. McDermott passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Regency Grande Nursing Home in Dover. He was 90 years old.
Donald was born and raised in the Bronx and moved to Parsippany in 1964.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from January 6, 1951 until being honorable discharged on December 10, 1953.
Donald was a Biology Professor at the County College of Essex for 47 years before retiring.
He was a lifetime member of the Morris Music Men. Donald was also a member of Irish American Club, Catholic War Veterans, Parsippany Elks & the Knights of Columbus.
He was pre-deceased by his father, John Joseph McDermott, his mother Mary Estelle Curran, his daughter, Doreen McDermott and his three brothers.
Survivors include his son, Gregory McDermott; his daughters, Jennifer Kalawur and her husband, Peter, Amy White and her husband, Brian, Donna McDermott-Latallade and her husband, Efrain Jr.; his cherished grandchildren: Tiffany, Kevin, Katherine, Emily and Sarah; and his 2 treasured great-grandchildren, Dillon and Audrey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Liturgy of Christian Burial to be offered at 2:00p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 at St. Christopher R.C. Church. 1050 Littleton Road, Parsippany. Interment will be on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 10:30a.m. at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
