Obituaries » Maureen V. (nee-Lenahan) Herzog

Maureen (nee-Lenahan) Herzog of Lake Parsippany, passed away on December 12, 2020. She was 73.

Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Edward and Miriam Lenahan, Maureen was the youngest in her family of six. She had countless stories of growing up with her cousins and best friends, attending school at Holy Innocents and St. Edmund Preparatory High School in Brooklyn.

In 1968, Maureen married the love of her life, Robert Herzog, and later moved to Lake Parsippany to start their next chapter. Together, they welcomed eight children and established roots in their community. Maureen’s love of family extended far beyond her own and there was hardly a time when there weren’t cousins or neighborhood kids in her home. When Maureen’s children were grown, she took on a new role with the Parsippany Board of Education where she served as a bus driver and aide for several years. She loved her “bus kids” as much as her own.

Maureen was an active member in her community, serving in various leadership roles with the St. Christopher Home School Association, Lake Parsippany Ladies Club, Parsippany Historical Society, the North America Irish American Association and countless other organizations. She was ever present at her family’s educational and extracurricular activities. She leaves a legacy that will span generations.

Maureen was predeceased by her husband, Robert, parents Edward and Miriam Lenahan, and siblings Patricia Lenahan, Kevin Lenahan, Eileen McGlynn, Virginia Ramsaier and Dennis Lenahan.

She is survived by her children: Kathleen Berardo and husband, Phil, Nancy Mulligan and husband, Michael, Robert Herzog and wife, Tammi, Stephen Herzog and wife, Theresa, Erin Herzog, Mary Donahue and husband, Michael, Christine Feely and husband, Scott and Maggie Meyer and husband, Augie. Maureen was blessed with 22 grandchildren: Alex, Nicholas, Thomas, Christopher, Caroline, Ryan, Jack, Kevin, Sean, Michael, MacKenzie, Maci, Madi, Abby, Logan, Lucy, Grace, Jack, Nolan, Augie, McKayla and Hailey; and her great grandson, Beck. She was a loving aunt and godmother to numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Liturgy of Christian Burial to be offered at 9:30a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at St. Christopher R.C. Church. 1050 Littleton Road, Parsippany. Interment will be private. Visitation will be on Monday, December 21, 2020 from 4:00p.m.- 7:00p.m. at the Par-Troy Funeral Home 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany.
