Fritz was born and raised in Port Au Prince, Haiti. He attended medical school in Belgium and Nicaragua before coming to the United States. Fritz began his career  at Doctor’s Hospital on Staten Island before moving on to become the Director of Hematology at both Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan and Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens for many years before retiring.

After retiring, Fritz became a professional grandfather, devoting his life to help raising his grandchildren. Whether he was picking them up from school, hanging out or watching them during one of their many activities, Fritz was always smiling and relishing his time with Tyler, Chanel, Adam, Brandon, Gavin, Connor, Jacob, Sienna and Jaxon. You would be hard pressed to find a picture of Fritz without one of them in it.

He was a long time member of Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church in Verona.

Fritz was pre-deceased by his wife, Antoinette who passed away in 1990.

Survivors include his sons: Leonard Rivers, Fritz L. Leon, Gary Rivers and Sean Leon; his daughters: Donna Leon, Lisa Rivers, Nicole Leon-Horton and her husband, Gerald “Chris”, Jennifer Leon and Christina Leon Pruzansky and her husband, Gregg. Fritz’s brothers and sisters include: Maude, Colette, Bob, Alourdes, Ena, Mona, Ghislaine, Clarke, Claude, Adelyne & Anne Marie. He was the proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters, Jolie and Niyla and he was happy to know that one more is on the way! Fritz is also survived by his dear cousins: Evelyne and Serge.
