Margaret Mary Cerbo, passed away at Morristown Medical Center on Saturday, October 31 on what would have been her 50th wedding anniversary to her beloved husband, Nick.
Margaret Mary was born in Morristown on January 9, 1939 and was the daughter of James and Mary (nee Kiely) Cahill.
Margaret Mary graduated from Morris Hills High School in 1957 and was in the first freshman class and participated in the school’s ground-breaking. Margaret Mary was a member of the Florence Nightingale Club and followed in her mother’s steps as a registered nurse, graduating from East Orange General Hospital Nursing School. She worked at Saint Claire’s Hospital in Denville as a Nursing Supervisor.
Margaret Mary was active in PTA and was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader of Troop 488 at Troy Hills Elementary School. She was a charter member and long-time Sponsored Youth chairman in the Kiwanis Club of Greater Parsippany. She was a Kiwanian of the Year and George F. Hixson Fellow. Margaret Mary was also a long-time member of the Woman’s Club of Parsippany-Troy Hills and was placed on the NJSFWC Honor Roll and awarded the Order of the Lily.
Margaret Mary is pre-deceased by her husband, Nicholas. Survivors include her brothers, James and his wife Jeanette and Robert and his wife Sue, as well as her daughter, Cathy and her beloved Yorkie Tommy. She is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews and friends.
Interment services will be private. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Margaret Mary’s memory to The Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey Foundation 175 South St. Morristown, NJ 07960. Her mother had many fond memories of her time working for the VNA as a visiting nurse in the 1920’s and 1930’s.
