Brian Xavier Duffy, 87, passed away in his sleep at Chelsea Montville on July7, 2020 in Montville, N.J.

Brian was born and raised in Jersey City, N.J. to the late William Francis Duffy, Sr. and Iris Pauline Pallander Duffy. Growing up in Jersey City, mainly at 397 Central Avenue, Brian graduated from Dickinson High School at 15. He spent several summers on his uncle’s farm in New Paltz, NY.

After high school, he worked odd jobs and then joined the Navy Air Reserve (honorably discharged in 1959) while going to college. He graduated Seton Hall University with a BSB in Accounting and was hired by Celanese Corp. in 1959. At the age of 29, he married Irene Flora Castle on May 12, 1962. Together, they raised four boys.

He worked various general accounting positions and was promoted to several positions. He completed his MBA in 1974 from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Along the way he moved his family several times to Greenville and Rock Hill, South Carolina; Matawan, New Jersey; Louisville, Kentucky and finally settling in Parsippany, New Jersey in 1979 where he lived until 2015.

He retired after 31 years from HCC in 1990 after completing a multi-year joint venture project in Nantong, China from 1988-90 as Manager of Financial Department, Nantong Cellulose Fibers Company.

Brian enjoyed bowling, golfing and fishing. After he retired, he enjoyed playing golf as a member at The Knoll Country Club, and later in life often hung out at the Knoll Senior Center in Parsippany. He lived his adult life with the Presbyterian church, being a member of the Parsippany Presbyterian Church since 1979, serving in a variety of roles and singing in the choir for many years.

He was pre-deceased by his wife, Irene who passed away in 2013.

Brian is survived by his four sons, Timothy Brian, Christopher Michael, Patrick Andrew and Frank Nicholas; his brother William F. Duffy, Jr.; and six grandsons: Colin Timothy, Eric Konrad, Paul Henry, Jack Daniel, Ryan Flynn and Jacob Christopher.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Gathering on Thursday, July 16th 2020 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with his Memorial Service to be held at 3:30 p.m. at Par-Troy Funeral Home. 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany. (973)887-3235.
