On Monday, June 15, 2020, Dr. Albert F. Cattafi, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at age 78.
Albert was born on November 22, 1941 in Newark, NJ to Frank and Jean (Monaco) Cattafi. He received his doctorate from Columbia University (formerly New York Chiropractic College) in New York in 1976, and was licensed by the Medical Board for practice in the States of New Jersey and Florida.
Albert practiced Chiropractic medicine for 44 years in New Jersey, and was a diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management, Chiropractic Sports Injuries, and the National Board of the Council on Chiropractic Education. On October 8, 1978, he married the love of his life and best friend, Geraldine Maria (Consalvo) Cattafi. They have two beautiful children, Eléna and Albert Jr.
In 1983, Albert became the Sports Team Physician for the Cosmos Soccer Club and was selected for inclusion in the prestigious International Who’s Who in Medicine in 1987. He was the first Chiropractor in the State of New Jersey to be admitted on staff at a hospital in 1994 (Meadowlands Hospital in Secaucus, NJ), and resided as Director of their Department of Chiropractic Medicine until 2006. He became certified in Manipulation Under Anesthesia in 1995, and was honored with the Physician of the Year Award in 2005 by the National Republican Congressional Committee.
In addition to having served in the United States Army, Albert held many distinguished memberships and presidential seats on various, esteemed establishments, including the American Council on Chiropractic Physiotherapy, the Northern New Jersey Chiropractic Society, the American Chiropractic Association Council on Sports Injuries, the Kearny Rotary Club, along with past Master of the Freemasons Triune Lodge.
Albert was known for his gentle and loving nature, and showed tender admiration for everyone he met. His infectious smile was always filled with compassion, and his warmhearted kindness was exemplary. Albert’s clever knowledge on all topics and wise perspective left lasting impressions on anyone who knew him, including his “dad jokes” of which he had many. He lived for his family and friends (especially his Bloomfield College fraternity brothers) and was an everyday hero to his beautiful wife and children.
Albert was preceded in death by his father, Frank, his mother, Jean, and his brother, Frank Jr.
