Victor Herbert Boutot and Jane (nee-Dooley) Boutot

Herb and Jane both passed away peacefully, surrounded in prayer; Herb on Sunday April 19, 2020, and his beloved wife, Jane, 36 hours later, on Tuesday April 21, 2020. They were married for 65 years and were longtime residents of Parsippany, NJ, where they were faithful and active communicants of St. Christopher’s Church. We believe it was a blessing from God that they take their final journey home together.

Herb was born in August of 1931, to Victor and Adeline (nee-Connell) Boutot. One of four children, Herb grew up in Hillside, NJ, and graduated from St. Benedict’s Academy in Newark. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle and loyal friend. Herb served four years in the US Navy during the early 1950’s and thereafter began a long career in management with IBM before retiring in the mid-1980s.

Jane was born in March of 1933 to William and Helena (nee-Maher) Dooley. She and her seven siblings were raised around grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins in Linden and Elizabeth, NJ. She loved her big Irish family and everything that came with it. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and a loyal friend. Jane graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Elizabeth and enjoyed keeping in touch with her dear friends over the years, as well as with fellow ‘Hilltoppers’ from time to time.

Jane and Herb met during high school, fell in love, married and remained side by side until the very end of their days. They enjoyed a long retirement together and continued to be very active well into their 80’s. They traveled a bit within the USA, Italy and Ireland. In their spare time, Herb, when not golfing, used his fine engineering and wood working skills to remodel more than a couple of his children’s homes, while Jane, a talented seamstress, provided the interior finishing touches. Over the years, Jane also supplied literally thousands of baked treats to her many loved ones. Family was at the center of everything about Jane and Herb. They set a great example by always taking care of each other, and by being there in good times and rough times when any of their families needed it.

They are survived by their five loving children and their loving families: Kenneth and wife, Barbara A. Boutot, James and wife, Barbara J. Boutot, Patricia Ann Boutot, Ellen and husband, Michael DeNigris, and Jennifer and husband, Jim Korbo.

Grandma and Pop-Pop leave their beloved grandchildren, each to whom they personally sang their annual signature acapella happy birthday for a grand total of over 350 performances: Kenneth, Mackenzie and Samantha Boutot, Casey, Malin, Brice, Colby and Gavin Boutot, Kyle and wife, Jessica, Sean, Griffin and Carly DeNigris, and Chad, Maggie and Julia Korbo, and their precious great-grandson, Jacob DeNigris who brought them much joy.

Jane and Herb are also survived by Jane’s dear brother, William Dooley, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom they were very fond of. They were predeceased by Jane’s sisters, Mary Dooley, Ann Jordan, Jean Dooley, Rita Lesniak, Ruth Ryan and Pat Dooley, and by Herb’s sisters, Marilouise O’Kane, Barbara and Adrienne Boutot, as well as brothers-in-law: Cornelius O’Kane, Ken Jordan, John Lesniak and James Ryan.

Our family thanks the kind, professional and brave caregivers that tended to our parents in these difficult times; Mom and Dad were so very grateful for this and never took them for granted. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jane and Herb may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Greater NJ Chapter, 111 Littleton Road #221, Parsippany, NJ 07054 or to the Foundation for Morristown Medical Center, 1st Floor, 475 South Street, Morristown, NJ 07960.

There will be a memorial service at a later date. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Par-Troy Funeral Home. 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany. (973)887-3235 or visit
