Stephen P. Hegarty passed away on Thursday, September 19th 2019. He was 52.

Stephen was born in Dover and grew up in Randolph and Hanover Township before moving to Rockaway 4 years ago.

He worked for the Department of Public Works as a heavy equipment operator for the Township of Hanover.

Stephen has enjoyed numerous hobbies from photography at his son’s sporting events, dirt bike riding, rv’ing with his family, skateboarding and his most recent enjoyment of boating in Green Pond as well as down the NJ shore and the Chesapeake Bay. He was looking forward to retiring from the Township of Hanover, after 25 years, in September 2021.

Stephen is pre-deceased by his parents, William F.(10/1989) and Alice K. (nee-Kolberg) (8/2014), his brother, Thomas J. (4/1962) and his sister, Mary Ann (4/1978).

Survivors include his wife, Wendy (nee-Barz); his sons: Ryan P. and Collin P.; his brothers: Robert P. & his wife, Cathy, Michael E. & his wife, Susan, William F. III & his wife, Lynda, James F. and Kenneth J. & his wife, Linda; his sisters: Bette J. Hegarty, Kathleen M. Harju & her husband, Jaak, Maureen C. Hagen & her husband, Glenn, Alice E. Juliano & her husband, Mark and Susan M. Marino & her husband, Robert; his father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Janet Barz; his sister-in-law, Debbie Petry; his 11 nieces, 14 nephews, 3 great nieces & 8 great nephews; he is also survived by his beloved companions, his dogs, April and Chief.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Sunday, September 22nd 2019 at 4:30p.m. at Par-Troy Funeral Home. 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany. (973)887-3235. Cremation: Private. Visiting hours are on Sunday from 1:00p.m. – 5:00p.m. at the funeral home. The family is asking for everyone to please dress casual!!!! Suits discouraged. Jeans and bright colors are encouraged!
