Dateline: Long Valley
Rose Jamroz passed away on Monday, August 12th 2019 at Newton Medical Center in Newton. She was 71.
Rose was born in Dover and lived at the Vineland Developmental Center from 1956 to 1965 and at Woodbridge Developmental Center from 1965 until 1998 when she moved into The Arc/Morris’ Overlook Group Home.
Although Rose enjoyed her attendance at the Krauklis Center in Flanders, and took pride in the work she did there, she was happiest when she was outdoors, especially in warm weather. She had a true appreciation for the natural world.
In 2012, Rose was presented with the Bill Sackter Award, which recognizes the achievements of an individual who has made a successful life in the community after institutionalization.
Rose was a woman who knew how to make an impression, and believed that looks count. She took pride in her appearance, and always tried to look pretty. She liked her colors, from pastel to vibrant. Floral prints were a favorite too. And no matter the outfit, it was perfectly accessorized with jewelry from her extensive collection. Her nails were painted red — only red.
But more than anything else, Rose was a loving soul, full of light and happiness. Her shy smile did little to hide the enthusiasm with which she approached life. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Survivors include her brother, Thomas Jamroz; her cousins: Joan and Gary Saam; and all of her dear housemates and friends at the Arc of Morris.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Visitation on Wednesday, August 21st 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. with her Funeral Service at 5:30p.m. at the Par-Troy Funeral Home. 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany. (973)887-3235 or www.partroyfuneralhome.com.
