Canio V. Margotta, 81, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Morris View Nursing Home in Morris Twp.

Canio was born in Montclair. He grew up in Pine Brook and was a long time resident of Parsippany before moving to Denville 10 years ago.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War until being honorably discharged in 1957.

Canio was a crossing guard for the Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Department until his retirement in 2018.

He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Parsippany Elks 2078.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Cheryl J. Blei; his two daughters: Ann Marie Amsden and Leean Hunchak and her husband, Joseph; his step son, Derek Engel and his wife, Diana; his brother, Michael DeCaito; his two sisters: Frances Quinn and her husband, Dennis and Paula DeCaito; and his four cherished grandchildren: Brice Amsden, Carolina Hunchak, Kayla Hunchak, and Ava Marie Engel.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Par-Troy Funeral Home, 95 Parsippany Rd, Parsippany, 973-887-3235 or www.partroyfuneralhome.com.
