Genevieve R. (nee-Romanowski) Hayes passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1st 2019 at Garden Terrace Nursing Home in Chatham. She was 94.

She was born in Kearney. She attended Sacred Heart School in Irvington and the Arts High School in Newark. Gene then went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts in English from Montclair State University.

In 1955, she moved to Parsippany where she became a member of Saint Christopher R.C. Church and the Women’s Society of Saint Christopher’s Church.

Gene was a Supervisor in the Delivery Department at the Morris County Library where she worked for 37 years before retiring in 2005.

She was active with the Literacy Program of Morris County and was a member of the Baldwin Oaks Art Group where she enjoyed watercolor painting. She also volunteered her time at Saint Clare’s Auxiliary in Denville.

Gene is pre-deceased by her husband of 55 years, Frank A. Jr. who passed away on September 5, 2005; her brother, Joseph Roman and her 2 sisters: Helen Beneigh & Jennie Krasnitski.

Survivors include her loving sons: Paul D. and his wife, Karolyn, Timothy B. and his fiancée, Maritza Figueroa and Andrew ‘Drew” F. and his partner, Janine Torsiello; her cherished grandchildren: Meghan, Matthew, Shaun, Evan, Alex, Siobhan, Erin, Corey and Calum; and her treasured 10 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Funeral on Thursday, June 6th 2019 at 9:00a.m. from the Par-Troy Funeral Home, 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany. Interment: Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 5:00pm-8:00p.m. at the Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome, or donations can be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.
