Louis H. Pesci, 88, of Whippany, NJ, formerly of Bloomfield, NJ and Chatham, NJ, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Morristown Medical Center.
Louis will always be remembered as a man of strong faith whose greatest passion in life was his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years, Lucy (nee Mancuso); his son, Louis (Gino) Pesci and his wife, Lisa; his daughter, Sandra Intile and her husband, Samuel; his sister, Anna Tomasello; his four grandchildren, Louis Intile, Samantha Sarnelli and her husband, Nicholas, Michael Pesci, and Christina Pesci; and his two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Lucia Sarnelli who lovingly adored their “Papa the Great.” He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Angelo and John Pesci, and his two sisters, Marie Engelbrecht and Rose Marra.
Louis was born and raised in Newark, NJ and served his country proudly with the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 until being honorably discharged in 1954. Following his service, he worked as a draftsman for AT&T/Bell Laboratories in Whippany, NJ and Murray Hill, NJ until his retirement in 1994.
Louis was a member of the VFW Post 6259 in Berkeley Heights, NJ, the Bloomfield Elks Lodge 21, and a board member of the Boy Scout Troup 40 in Bloomfield, NJ. A proud veteran with a tremendous love for his country and those who served, Louis was a volunteer at the Lyons VA Hospital for over 15 years.
Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, May 9, from 4 to 8pm at the Par-Troy Funeral Home, 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany, NJ. A Liturgy of Christian burial will be at 10am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 90 Whippany Road, Whippany, NJ. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ.
