Obituaries » Amy L Willis
Amy “Sweetness” Willis, mother of three, passed quietly while sleeping in the early morning hours on April 4th, 2019 at her home in Rockaway, NJ at the age of 48. She was a proud Scorpio born November 1970 in Idaho Falls, ID to Eldis (Burt) and Barbara Garner as the youngest of six siblings to Jeff, Kathy, Mitch, Wendy, and Quinn. She moved from Idaho to San Francisco, CA before she was 20, and then moved to Bremerton WA where she had our oldest son Alexander, who sadly preceded her in death on February 18th 2018 at the age of 27.
While in Bremerton, she married Joe Willis from NJ at the cutest hippie wedding you’d ever see among a handful of old friends. After a few years in Washington and back to California at the end of their military service, Joe and Amy made the long trek across country and settled down in NJ at the end of 1993. By 1995 they had bought a house in Rockaway, NJ and by June 1996 Amy gave birth to their second son David. Work and school were in full swing for Amy when she delivered our youngest daughter Morgan in December 1999.
Amy’s work took her from being a Vet Tech, into retail, to Advertising, but I think her favorite was probably Morristown Memorial Hospital emergency room, a reflection of her kind heart. Though it was always her goal to pursue a nursing career, Amy decided to remain home and raise the children full time. As a result, she was very active with the school plays making props, a “soccer mom” assisting the coaches when the kids played sports, helping with make-up and watching the girls for color guard, donating time to the charity fundraisers, and of course she proudly joked about “mom’s taxi service” as most parents would understand.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her farewell services at the Par-Troy Funeral Home, 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany (973) 887-3235 on Tuesday, April 9th 2019 from 4:00pm -7:00pm Cremation: Private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to: The Market Street Mission 9 Market St, Morristown, NJ 07960 or to Homeless Solutions 540 W Hanover Ave, Morristown, NJ 07960 or visit www.partroyfuneralhome.com.
