Mildred ‘Millie’ Cook peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 25th 2018, in Morristown, at the age of 78.

Millie was born in New York City, raised in Rutherford, NJ, lived in Florida for a short time after marrying Tom, and then moved to Parsippany in January of 1965.

Millie was a loving mother and homemaker who enjoyed volunteering in her community. She was a very valued PTA volunteer since the late 1960’s holding many jobs from fundraising to president in the Parsippany schools. She became involved in the Morris County Council of PTA’s in the 1970’s and stayed involved until it disbanded about 7 years ago. Millie’s job was bylaws and procedures and she was constantly answering phone calls from all the Morris County PTA’s. If anyone had a question, Millie always knew the answer. She also represented MCCPTA at the Par-Troy PTA Council meetings.

Millie was awarded a Lifetime membership to the National PTA for all that she did. She was also awarded recognition from Hallmark for her volunteerism.

Millie dedicated a lot of time to her church. She was a member of St. Christopher R.C. Church in Parsippany where she was a founding member of the Women’s Society. She started the Women’s Society Children’s Aids Project in 1992 and then over the years coordinated parish donations to Hope House. Millie was a member of the Martha and Mary Society at St. Christopher’s where she would devote her time maintaining the church every Saturday morning.

She continued to volunteer and be involved in the girl scouts for many years, as well. Millie was the true definition of Professional Volunteer.

Millie was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Thomas J. who passed away on 9/6/2014, and her brother Robert Cosmos who passed away on 10/24/2018.

Survivors include her loving children: Thomas D. and his fiancée, Marie of Orlando, FL, David and his wife, Deborah of York, PA, Jonathan and his girlfriend, Laura of Denville and Tracy Parsons of Montclair; and her cherished grandchildren: Scott, Danny, Katie, Jack, Emily and Nate.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Liturgy of Christian Burial to be offered at 10:00a.m. on Friday, November 30th 2018, at St. Christopher R.C. Church, 1050 Littleton Road, Parsippany. Interment: Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair. Visiting Hours are on Wednesday from 5-8p.m. at the Par-Troy Funeral Home. 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany.
