Melvin Chambers passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. He was 85 years old.

Melvin was born and raised in Newark. He lived in Roselle for 10 years before moving to Whippany in 1999.

Melvin worked as a Marketing Director for Pre Press Solutions (formerly Varityper-Tegra) in East Hanover for many years before retiring. He also enjoyed working at Bloomfield College as Adjunct Professor of Business.

Early in his life, Melvin played in jazz bands for notables like Wayne Shorter, Nat Phipps and Bobby Thomas.

Melvin was predeceased by his daughter, Robin and his sister, Joyce Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Julia M. (nee-Morrison); his sons: Kyle, Curtis and his wife Felicia; his brother, Arthur; his 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
